How Poetry Can Be a Mirror
Bella Cox (also known as B-Lyrical) is a spoken word performance poet, vocalist and media creator. She has been performing as a poet in and around South Africa since early 2014 and has performed as a singer in the UK, Kenya and South Africa as well.
She is the current Word n Sound Queen of the Mic of 2016 having now been a festival finalist for two consecutive years. She is also a top ten finalist for the 2016 Tshwane Speak Out Loud Poetry Competition and has recently had two of her poems published in the European Union Sol Plaatje poetry anthology.
B-Lyrical is best known for her raw, truth-telling poetic style, quirky love poems and controversial socio-political pieces as well as her soulful musical vocals. She is bent on making poetry accessible to the youth as a means of self-expression and growth. Since graduating from the University of Pretoria in 2016, she is now working full time as a performer both on stage and camera and giving talks and workshops as often as possible.
