Conservation through art
Kailen is a wildlife ecologist from Johannesburg South Africa, specializing in raptor and urban wildlife ecology and biodiversity conservation. He believes that the innovative and sustainable utilization of natural resources is the key to conserving the world’s wildlife and ecosystems efficiently and effectively.
After completing his undergraduate studies in Nature Conservation at the Tshwane University of Technology, he accepted a post at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge in Florida, USA to teach guests about Africa’s unique wildlife, ecosystems and cultures. This experience evoked a new perspective and appreciation for his home, which gave rise to the dream of conserving Africa’s natural and cultural heritage.
Upon arriving home in 2011, Kailen co-founded the KaiNav Conservation Foundation with his twin brother. A non-profit environmental research and education organization committed to biodiversity conservation, natural resource management and environmental education. Kailen is dedicated to promoting environmental science and wildlife research as a fulfilling career path to young generations throughout Africa.
