Nthato Moagi is a qualified Rocket Scientist, inventor and social entrepreneur who was born and bred in the dusty streets of Soweto. As a self-proclaimed 'social engineer', Nthato is passionate about design, technology, innovation and most importantly, education.
While completing his BSc Aeronautical Engineering degree at the University of the Witwatersrand, Nthato designed the LCERT (Low Cost Educational Robotics Toy) in order to develop affordable educational STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) resources for learners in South Africa and the rest of the developing world.
After graduating in 2014, Nthato went on to work on missiles, drones, and other exciting technologies as an Engineer at Denel Dynamics. After hours, Nthato works on his start-up called “CRSP dsgn”, which he founded to design and develop innovative technologies for social impact. Through CRSP dsgn, he successfully commercialized his LCERT invention for the South African market. A few months after being a finalist at the Hack Jozi Challenge competition, Nthato went on to win first place at the 2016 SAB Foundation Social Innovation Awards, where in which he was rewarded grant funding and business support for his start-up.
