A small fly can help solve big problems
Nina is an entomologist. She is passionate about flies and how we can use them to make a positive difference in the world.
A short overview of the talk
The world is facing innumerable problems, including how to find more sustainable fuel and food sources, and how to reduce and reuse organic waste. The black soldier fly can help us solve both of these problems simultaneously. How? The larvae of the black soldier fly can reduce most forms of organic waste. These larvae are also high in fat, which can be turned into biodiesel, and their protein then safely fed to pigs, chickens and fish.
